A repertoire and a half

I really admired the size and breadth of Malcolm's repertoire. He played tunes, he was a boisterous shantyman, he sang traditional and more modern songs, he even played on a couple of blues numbers with me. All his impressive set was in his head (of course, like all of us, he did have the occasional memory lapse) and he could pick up a tune or play a song at the drop of a hat and knew many versions and variations. He was an engaging performer and I always found his songs and tunes entertaining. He could be a bit un-PC at times but everything was said with a smile and a twinkle in his eye. We'll miss him at Tonbridge Folk Club.
